Snow Brand Milk Products Co., Ltd. (head office: Shinjuku, Tokyo, president: Tadaaki Kohnose) considers the research and development of leading-edge milk technologies a top priority issue and strives to improve the taste and functionality of milk and dairy products. In this research project, we broadly examined the health-related functionality of milk constituents and made it clear that MBP® increases bone density.
This time, during joint research with the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, we discovered that lactoperoxidase, a protein contained in MBP®, inhibits osteoclast *1 differentiation *2.
This research result will be presented at the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research 31st Annual Meeting, which will start on September 11th in Denver, Colorado, USA.

*2 Differentiation: The change of a cell into a different cell that has a characteristic shape or function
